Meet Our Bar Family

The Bar Athletics started as a conversation. While working together at a different fitness facility, we had a lot of "wouldn't it be awesome to..." discussions. Slowly the conversations turned to shaping our ideal fitness facility, what would that look like, what would feel like... We quickly found out that when you put something out to the universe, the universe listens. Doors into our future started flying open, and we walked through...

Rita Benevidez

Coach

Rita began her fitness journey in high school as a cross country runner. Running all four years, she turned down a scholarship in Montana to stay in the Bay Area and start her career in CrossFit. Although CrossFit just started out as a regular workout for Rita, it soon drew her into the culture that is CrossFit. Starting her internship at CrossFit OneWorld, by 2011 she was coaching full time at two CrossFit gyms. In 2012 she qualified for the CrossFit Norcal Regionals and finished 24th overall. That same year, she qualified to compete in the USAW American Open and became a Nationally ranked Olympic Lifter. She currently competes in both CrossFit and Olympic Lifting, and is Crossfit Certified Olympic Lifting Coach as well as Crossfit Level 1 Trainer.

Her desire is to help people better themselves and become stronger, faster or leaner. She instills in people a sense of self confidence, inner strength and discipline and has helped many people reach their goals.

In her off time, Rita enjoys participating in competitions, snow boarding, and spending time with her boyfriend and dogs.

Jenna Cunha

Coach

An NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) graduate with her CPT, Jenna is also a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer, a CrossFit Olympic Lifting Coach, and has been coaching for over four years. She’s been an avid weight lifter since high school.

Jenna's fitness journey started in my storage unit while living on a boat! After jumping around and lifting weights for a while on her own she decided to get some real instruction. She then pursued her personal training certificate through NASM. After a couple years of training in gyms like in shape and 24hour she stumbled upon Crossfit and was immediately hooked! Jenna has also competed in multiple Crossfit competitions and a power lifting competition. "I love what I do, love sharing that with anyone who shows an interest and has the fire to work hard!"

Outside of the gym she is a dog and animal lover and enjoys snuggling with her bulldog and her cat while watching Dr. Who. :)
